RioCan Executes Nationwide LED upgrade of 120+ facilities in 9 months

RioCan is one of Canada’s largest real estate investment trusts. RioCan owns, manages, and develops retail-focused, increasingly mixed-use properties located in prime, high-density transit-oriented areas where Canadians want to shop, live, and work. As at March 31, 2020 RioCan’s portfolio represents approximately 38.6 million square feet.

In this project RioCan wanted to quickly upgrade their portfolio to LED, the first challenge was to conduct a nationwide lighting assessment and the second challenge was finding a contractor with the experience and capacity to handle such a project. At the end of this review process TGL was selected to handle the design, lighting supply, installation and 5-year maintenance of a 120+ RioCan properties across Canada. One of the largest multifacility LED projects in the industry.

The installation of the project started immediately upon award with all facilities completed in 9 months. A unique display of execution speed and capacity by an LED contractor.
